Andalucía
White villages, late dinners and a slower rhythm.

Why Andalucía?
Andalucía is a region best understood at walking pace. Its cities layer Moorish palaces over Roman foundations and Baroque churches, while the countryside unfolds into olive groves, white villages and quiet mountain roads.
For a solo traveller, it offers a rare combination: genuinely walkable historic centres, a generous café culture that makes eating alone feel natural, and a rhythm of life built around long, late, sociable evenings.
Why it works.
Seville, Granada and Córdoba have compact, well-connected historic centres that are pleasant to explore on foot. Café and tapas culture means eating alone rarely feels conspicuous, and days shape themselves easily around cooler mornings and long evenings.
Best areas.
Santa Cruz & Alfalfa, Seville
The old Jewish quarter and its livelier neighbour, walkable, atmospheric and close to the cathedral and river.
Realejo, Granada
A characterful quarter below the Alhambra with independent cafés, a relaxed pace and good transport links.
The Sierra villages
For a rural chapter, the pueblos blancos of Cádiz and Málaga offer slower days and boutique rural stays.
April to early June and September to October offer warmth without the intensity of high-summer heat. Spring brings orange blossom and festivals; autumn brings the grape harvest and softer light.
High-speed trains link Seville, Córdoba and Málaga comfortably; the historic centres are walkable. A hire car only makes sense for the rural villages, and is easily arranged for that chapter alone.
