About

Why Bali?

Bali is one of the world's most naturally welcoming solo destinations — an island where the culture centres on ceremony, community and care, and where a woman travelling alone is met with warmth rather than curiosity.

From Ubud's artistic and spiritual heart to the surf-washed creative villages of the south coast, Bali offers entirely different chapters within a single island.

Solo travel

Why it works.

Bali has a thriving solo-travel culture, particularly in Ubud and Canggu. The combination of affordable luxury, English spoken everywhere and a deeply welcoming local culture makes it one of the world's most natural solo destinations. Yoga retreats, cooking classes and temple visits provide easy, sociable structure.

Where to base yourself

Best areas.

Ubud

The island's spiritual and creative heart, rice terraces, temples, cooking classes and excellent restaurants.

Canggu

A surf-influenced creative village with excellent cafés, independent restaurants and a relaxed community atmosphere.

Uluwatu & Bingin

For a quieter coastal chapter, dramatic clifftop temples and small surf beaches.

When to go

May to September is the dry season, the best time for outdoor activities and coastal days. October to April brings the wet season, lush and green, with daily afternoon showers — still very enjoyable in Ubud.

Getting around

A private driver is the most practical way to move between areas and reach the best temples and terraces. Within Ubud, walking is wonderful. Alma will arrange transfers so the logistics never get in the way of the experience.
