Colombia
Walled colonial cities, coffee highlands and Latin America's most vibrant culture.

Why Colombia?
Colombia offers a range of experiences that few countries can match: Cartagena's candy-coloured colonial streets by the Caribbean, Medellín's extraordinary urban reinvention and the Eje Cafetero's coffee hills and haciendas.
For a solo traveller, Cartagena in particular is a natural base — walkable, beautiful and with a food and nightlife culture that rewards those exploring alone.
Why it works.
Colombia has changed dramatically in recent years and is now a genuinely welcoming solo travel destination, particularly in the main tourist cities. Cartagena's old city is safe and walkable; Medellín has a thriving café and creative culture. Sticking to well-established areas and using reliable transport makes the trip very manageable.
Best areas.
Cartagena old city
The walled Caribbean city — colonial, colourful and walkable, with excellent restaurants and boutique hotels.
Medellín: El Poblado & Laureles
The city's most welcoming neighbourhoods, cafés, creative spaces and the extraordinary urban story.
The Coffee Region (Eje Cafetero)
Haciendas, bamboo forests and the Jeep trips between small coffee towns — the most characterful part of rural Colombia.
December to March and July to August are the driest months across most of Colombia. Cartagena is year-round; the Coffee Region is lush in the wetter months. Alma will advise on the best timing for your specific route.
Domestic flights connect the main cities quickly and affordably. Within Cartagena the old city is walkable; Medellín has an excellent metro. Jeeps are the way to travel between coffee towns. Alma will structure transfers so the journey feels part of the experience.
